Lake County Democratic Leader is a Disgrace

It's almost 12:30 am and I am watching CNN because my Mayor, Tom McDermott was going to be on. Instead I hear the national media questioning Rudy Clay, the Mayor of Gary, repeatedly on why votes were not being released in Lake County (under his leadership) while the rest of Indiana was signed sealed and delivered one way or the other.

Wolf Blitzer even asked, why is Marion County, the largest county in the state able to report and Lake County is not. Mayor Clay's response - "We have the best people in the world counting 11,000 absentee votes (I am paraphrasing) which is the most we ever had to count!"

Mayor McDermott meanwhile is repeatedly telling CNN that he knows the results of every town in Lake County except Gary and that the votes in those cities were in at 7:30pm!

Good for Mayor McDermott on telling it like it is!

Hammond Mayor: School field-trip 'unethical' politicking

Hats off to Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott for standing up for what is right. This was in response to today's article in the Times that states Gary officials were busing in high school students to vote early(Often too? This is Lake County remember) for the May 6th primary as a "learning experience."

Elections Board Director Sally LaSota and Lake County Elections Supervisor
Michelle Fajman said Gary school officials notified them last week all high
school students registered to vote would be bused to Crown Point this week.

LaSota said they wouldn't turn away potential voters of any age. Fajman
said, "Students don't have time before school opens on election day to vote and
they have extracurricular activities at the school. I think it's a good
idea."

Sally LaSota could have given a better reason than that couldn't she? Students don't have time before school? They have extracurricular activities after school? Excuse me but don't polls open at 6am? I teach and get to school at 7:15am and coach baseball after school this time of year and sometimes don't come home until as late as 8:30pm, yet I find the time to vote before my day starts if I have to. Perhaps if students weren't sending text messages all hours of the night they would be able to wake up 10 minutes earlier on a school day.

It all comes down to the Obama campaign up to some "politicking." As Democrats you would think they would want equality for everyone. How come all school systems aren't sending their high school seniors to vote early? Could it be perhaps that the Obama campaign wouldn't benefit?

Global Warming?

Global Temperatures 'to decrease'

By Roger Harrabin
BBC News environment analyst

Global temperatures this year will be lower than in 2007 due to the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific, UN meteorologists have said.

The World Meteorological Organisation's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, told the BBC it was likely that La Nina would continue into the summer.

This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.

Global Warming, Earth Hour, and Al Gore are all a Joke

I had to laugh when I saw the article Earth Hour crashes to Earth. I am all for taking care of the earth but come on, turning the lights off for an hour will really do anything? Come on you liberals and all those who believe their pile of crap get in touch with reality.

Hillary in Hammond...The Way it Was

I have to agree with Jerry Davich's article from Saturday March 29th and his observations on his blog regarding Senator Clinton's appearance in Hammond.

The Hammond Civic Center was definitely not filled to capacity. There was probably about 4,000 people there with room for at least another 1,000 that's for sure. The crowd was mostly White and Hispanic and the majority of the crowd was there just to see the presidential race come to Hammond. How do I know? On all Hillary's applause lines, I would look around and most people in the balcony that I could see were just sitting on their hands. The union workers, obviously told to show up, sitting in the "VIP" section were just sitting there as well.

Why wasn't there a full house? Why was the crowd not as enthusiastic as it could have been? The answer is simple. Hilary's campaign is finished. I am guessing there must be 500,000 in all of NW Indiana and she couldn't get 5,000 to show up on a Friday afternoon? It's not Mayor McDermott's fault that's for sure, it's America sick of the Bushes and sick of the Clinton's even more. It's the Democratic Party in love with Barack Obama as well. (I wonder if that will change as Barack continues to be put under the microscope for the first time.)

On a side note, why would Mayor McDermott and 6 other local mayor's jump on a failing campaign's bandwagon?

"Typical" Double Standard

Obama: 'Grandma is Typical White Person'

Imagine if a Republican said that about anyone of any race. Typical double standard.
